If you are not sure how to use the computer try to follow these instructions one at a time,
they will help you to learn how the Internet works
 
 
 
 
 


1) To learn how to change pages click here with the mouse.
    These blue underlined sections are called links.

2)  If you have never, ever used the Internet before, and you would like a bit of practice at just moving around you could start by looking at a project which a girl from another school did.                                            Click here to see it.
 

3) Make sure you know how to save or copy bits of information which interest you. If you dont know how to do this ask your teacher, or a friend, to show you how it's done.

4) When you know how to use the Internet start looking at the Contents Page.
 

5) Search around lots of pages until you understand what sort of material is available.

Saving information from the web

1) Pictures

When you find a picture that you like, click on it with the right hand mouse button and a little menu should appear right beside your mouse pointer.
 

Pick the item which says "Save Image As"

A box will appear at the top of the page asking you where you want to save the picture.

Make sure its onto your own disc or your own area before you click the OK button.

2) Saving a whole page
Click on file at the top left hand corner of the page.
Click "save as"
Make sure you are saving it into your own area or onto your own disc, then click OK.
 

3) Saving a section of text
Next try saving a piece of text.

Hold down the left hand button and rub it right across the  information you want. It should all change colour.
Click on "File" at the very top left of the page and carry on as if it was the whole page, but make sure that the name you give with this file ends with  .txt
